“A long December, and there’s reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last”
Hey, burger! The Burlington Charcoal Pit has been a downtown institution for the past 55 years. Located right on the waterfront, the Toronto Food Blog has had many a family meal at this fine establishment over the decades.
If you’re on your way to Niagara or heading further west (Burlington Coat Factory, perhaps), this is the last old-school burger joint before you wrap around the lake. Get off at the Brant St. exit on the QEW and head straight south. Ample parking out front for your road-trip pitstop. You can thank us later;)
No smash burgers here. Just throwback two-handers of the charbroiled variety; topped just the way you like them (aka… triple pickle)! You can taste the grill. And that’s good.
Hand-cut French fries & poutines; foot-long hot dogs & onion rings; gyros & souvlaki both ways. Less is more sometimes.
In case you hadn’t noticed, the GTA is in the midst of a burger renaissance. Unfortunately relics like this are becoming fewer & further between. When we do find places kicking it old-school, we tend to ride the wave of consistency for all they’re worth.
Forever kiddo approved; in our books, the Burlington Charcoal Pit will always be in style. To quote Jules Winfield, “Mmm, this is a tasty burger!”
