Chamsine (235 Queen St E) is a newly-opened Syrian restaurant that brings a culinary respite to one of downtown’s toughest corners.
The name of their game is elevated Middle Eastern. The menu is simple and certified Halal. Choose Falafel, Shawarma, Kofta, or Shish Tawook. Your choice comes in a sandwich, atop multiple salads, or as a combo plate w/ starches. I am a big fan of their Falafel Salad. This is an enormous plate of food for only $7.99 and comes loaded with wonderful accouterments such as fried cauliflower, eggplant, potato and pickle.
The staff are amazingly friendly at Chamsine. It’s always service with a smile and generous portions. I have been coming back once a week for lunch since their recent launch. It’s one of the best hidden gems downtown for #cheapeats. And thanks to their location in #mosspark, window seats provide for some very interesting people-watching. Please let me know if you’re planning on going. I’ll be sure to join you for #lunchunder10bucks
