Leslieville Pumps ~ 913 Queen St E ~ (416) 465-1313

Leslieville Pumps General Store and Kitchen (aka The Pumps) is a place that needs little introduction.  Located on Toronto’s lower eastside, the Flom brothers have been at the forefront of The 6ix’s BBQ scene for over a decade.  Growing out of their humble beginnings as a gas station and evolving into a general store & smokehouse, they’ve refined and perfected the two-hander one sandwich at a time.

We have two current favourites.  The Southern Beef Brisket is Texas Cut (thicc), smoked low & slow and assembled with crispy sweet onions as well as house BBQ sauce & mustard.  It’s, perhaps, the most photogenic sandwich we’ve ever seen.  Their Oak Smoked Turkey Club is another thing of beauty.   Turkey, bacon, roasted tomatoes, kale chips and pesto aioli… what’s not to like?

As far as sides, The Pumps’ Fries absolutely slap.  Life is too short for bad French Fries, and these guys tick all the boxes.  Upgrade to a Poutine and you can thank us later.  Baked beans, corn bread, fried pickles, coleslaw, corn salad… the combination of southern comforts are seemingly endless.  Wash everything down with a Tahiti Treat and you got yourself one heck of a meal.

The Pumps is also kiddo-approved thanks to their General Store.  Everything the kids see, they want.  Throwback candies, pops, toys and snacks bring back all the feels.  It’s hard to say no.  And If you need to start the day on a full stomach, The Pumps is also open for breakfast.  Their menu adorned with a variety of morning classics and is served all-day!

If you’re planning on dropping in, please say hello to Judson and tell him the Toronto Food Blog sent ya!  He’s as great a golf partner as he is a pit master.
