Yummy House ~ 234 Jones Ave ~ (416) 465-6666

The Toronto Food Blog are creatures of habit.  We’re always happy to go back to the well once we’ve uncovered the goods.  To that end, Yummy House (234 Jones Ave) is a spot we’ve been frequenting on the regular lately.

This hole-in-the-wall across the street from Riverdale Collegiate services the lunch rush with daily specials and plenty of Bubble Tea for the high-school crowd.  As usual, though, there’s more than meets the eye here.  Mom-and-pop making the magic happen from a single wok just as soon as class is dismissed.

Jones Avenue love, baby!  Say hello in there… hello!

Mapo Tofu is typically a good unit of measurement for us when ordering from a Chinese menu.  Well, we’re happy to report that the rendition at Yummy House actually slays… with  Wok Hei for days.

All stirfrys are available with rice or as larger portion a la carte, and they’ll gladly spice things to-order for you.  Tomato & Beef is another one of our faves!

Oodles of noodles on the menu as well.  We prefer the thicker Lo Mein thanks to the chew.  Ample chicken & shrimp are laced throughout.  But the Spicy Singapore Noodles may just be their best-seller!

With a different $10 menu item on rotation (like the Chili Chicken pictured below), local & loyal Leslieville + Riverdale clientele all have their favorite day of the week to visit.

Takeaway is the name of the game here; though, there is a single seat that we’re known to frequent.  Don’t sleep on their frozen Dim Sum that can be ordered by the dozen to be enjoyed at home.

Ten bucks goes a long way at Yummy House.  And Nothing tastes better than a great deal.  It’s kinda a big deal!
