Len Duckworth’s Fish & Chips – 2638 Danforth Ave – (416) 699-5865

The first job I ever had was at a North Toronto fish & chip restaurant. Needless to say, the bar has always been set pretty high for this type of fare. That’s why I am so happy that Len Duckworth’s Fish & Chips is only a short walk from our new house. Rivalling any place in the city, it’s obvious to see why they have  been so successful since 1930.

It’s the simplicity of the place that makes it worth repeat visits. The In House Special ($12.95) is as simple as it gets… a hefty serving of Halibut, Fresh-Cut Fries, Coleslaw, Bread & Butter and a Pop/Tea. Substitutions can be made on the type of Fish, but why mess with perfection?

Having a Dad who was born-and-raised in England and having worked at Penrose while in high school, my family knows a thing or two about good Fish & Chips. There are a lot of good and a lot of average joints around the city… and even though they do not make their own tartar sauce, take my word for it… if you’re on the Danforth or in the Beach/Upper Beach, it’s well-worth the trip to Main St. to try this place out. There’s ample parking across the street at the Canadian Tire;)
