TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley

It’s quite rare that the Toronto Food Blog releases more than one full blog review in a month.  That sort of frequency is typically reserved for something very, very special.

Turns out that our recent fall golf trip to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley might just qualify as the best day of the year (so far).  Turns out this is not just a first-class golf facility home to three of the best golf courses in the country.  Turns out that the kitchen at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley is actually just as good as the golf.

So good, in fact, that we had breakfast, lunch and dinner on their patio…  before, between and after our two stunning rounds of fall golf.

We got the day started off on the right food by meeting Chef Dani Germond for the most important meal of the day.  Her team is cranking out breakfast sandwiches a couple of different ways.  Their straight down the fairway rendition sees a fried egg with cheddar cheese, tomato jam and bacon on a toasted brioche bun.  If you’re living dangerously, substitute the bacon for their house-made breakfast sausage smashed on the flattop.  Wash it all down with some top-shelf coffee?  Oh, baby!

If you arrive peckish later in the day and need to fill the tank before your round, their best seller is the Smash Burger.  Two x 3 oz. house-ground brisket patties smashed on a griddle with cheddar cheese, pickles, onions and secret sauce served on a toasted brioche bun.  The fries are crunchy, nicely salted, and perfect for sharsies.  This order travels pretty well if you’re up next in the tee box.  Grab-and-go from their takeout window.

If you’re more inclined to sit on the patio and relax after walking 7000 yards, we recommend the Fish & Chips.  Potato flake-crusted cod served with creamy slaw, fries and tartar for dipping.  Get in our belly!

It was announced this summer that, together with Golf Canada, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley will be creating a new home for Canadian golf…  including a new headquarters, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, training facilities, and a public-access putting course.

They’re also in the process of erecting a brand new clubhouse, expanding their kitchen/bar/dining room, and are underway building on-site accommodations.  The goal is to transform the place into a true resort destination for stay-and-play trips, couples’ getaways, and events galore.  Just outside the city but far enough to feel like you’re getting away!  It’s hard to imagine this place getting any better… but the ground has been broken!

With the Thanksgiving long-weekend fast approaching, we’re going to book ourselves in for another #earlymorningglazejob.  If you’re a fan of the game, we highly recommend that you do the same.  The leaves are turning in the Caledon country side, and there are still a handful of warm days left on the weather report.  Get it!
