Joe’s Wings + Burgers has recently opened in a gutsy/progressive spot on Danforth between Dawes and Victoria Park. This family-run joint is equipped for dining in, taking out or for delivery, and is just what this neighbourhood needed. I am pleased to say Joe’s is within walking distance of our place. It’s really nice to be able to get a decent burger in our hood, and if they keep doing what they’re doing, we’ll be frequenting this place for years to come.
As the name suggests, Wings and Burgers are the name of the game here. I love the fact that the wings are not breaded. Rather, flash fried and tossed in one of the many interesting flavours available. At $5 for a half dozen, they’re a great deal. Be sure to try them with a sidecar of Coconut Rice for a truly Filipino taste. It’s what Joe himself eats.
Joe’s Hamburgers are made fresh daily and are quite sizable for $4.50. The Fries are fried twice and are served with the most memorable of gravies. Wash everything down with some Filipino Sweet Tea and you’ve got yourself one heck of a combo.
Bring the kids… Joe’s Wings + Burgers is kid friendly in both food & atmosphere. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Joe + family. Thanks for the recco, Ryan Harris.
Joe’s is awesome!
Those fries look amazing….
I went here with my brother. He got the cheese burger combo, I got the six wings combo. I had medium spice on my wings and they had a good amount of kick to them, the sauce was tasty and wasn’t completely about the spice which I really liked. The wings were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside – perfect. They had amazing fries. Every single fry was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside thick cut with skins still on – again, perfect. My said his burger was a real, legit burger fresh and juicy on a nice bun. They gave us some gravy on the side for our fries, which tasted like it was made in house. It wasn’t that gloopy, thick, opaque pre-made stuff, it was more liquid, somewhat transparent, brown and very flavourful and beefy tasting. I would totally go back for their poutine if that’s what their gravy was like. It’s the best gravy I’ve had in a restaurant in ages. It’s better than the gravy at Smoke’s poutinery.
The couple that works there is very friendly, big smiles, happy to help. While I was there they called a cab for someone who needed one because the weather was awful. Over all, between the great service, how friendly the owners are, and the food, I’d totally go again and recommend anyone else go there too.
It’s not some fancy hipster grease joint with obscene over the top burgers. Those can be pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but I not everybody wants an expensive burger with crazy toppings every time they go out for a burger.
It’s a cozy atmosphere, not loud so you can actually have a conversation over dinner or lunch if you’re eating in, amazing service and a very homey feel. It’s a really comfortable nice neighbourhood place. It’s affordable so you can get takeout for your family if you don’t feel like cooking, or if you’re in your teens you can go with your friends and it’s within your allowance budget.
It’s a neighbourhood place and feels like a neighbourhood place. And I really like that!
