Happy Canada Day!!! Was walking through Moss Park on my lunch-hour recently. Just west of Parliament, on the north side of Queen, came a across a flurry of homemade signs pointing me to Art of BBQ, a new summer pop-up at the back of an empty lot. I was equally hungry and intrigued.
Spoiler alert… this place checked all the boxes for the Toronto Food Blog: No Frills, Good Food, Good Service, Cheap Eats
Chatted with owner Trevor David as he made me a combo plate. We listened to the Motown classics blasting out of his car. He’s doing apple-wood-smoked chicken & ribs all summer long. CASH ONLY! Using the kitchen of neghbouring Baggo Wine Bar, he’s hoping to turn the empty lot into a gathering place for Blues & BBQ.
I’m really glad this place has popped-up smack-dab in the middle of my work ‘hood. Located right across from the WE Building and within walking distance of The Distillery and The Market, this sleepy spot is a great move by David from a supply & demand perspective. Can’t think of a BBQ joint in the city where you get this much food for $10 to $15 bucks. Apparently BBQ Cheap Eats can be a thing!!!
